Indian fast bowler Sreesanth has been away from the gentleman’s game for 7 years. The 37-year-old pacer was found guilty in the IPL 2013 for his alleged match-fixing allegations. After being linked with a series of infamous controversies, the veteran fast bowler was banned for life by the BCCI.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India didn’t show any mercy on the fast bowler as he brought disgrace on the gentleman’s game. Needless to say, his cricketing career took a U-turn after his ban was reduced to 7 years.
Sreesanth’s last competitive match appearance came for Rajasthan Royals against Kings XI Punjab during the league stage match in March 2013. Soon after the game, Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila, and Ankeet Chavan were detained by the Delhi Police on spot-fixing charges.
After being banned from cricket for years, his suspension eventually came to a close on September 13, 2020. The two-time ICC World Cup-winning champion breathed a sigh of relief after stepping out of the dark zone.
The fast bowler reckons that he still has up to 7 years of cricket left in him. Sreesanth is currently working really hard to get into the Indian national cricket team.
Earlier, the pacer had claimed to uproot the Smith’s middle-stump and then say ‘thank you’ to him. Sreesanth has been one of the pivotal parts of Indian cricket team history. He has won two World Cups for India in 2007 and 2011.
Sreesanth makes a grand comeback to cricket
The star pacer has been picked up the Kerala selectors to represent the state in Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy. The fast bowler who still has a lot of spirit and determination left in him took the cricket fraternity by storm recently.
Ahead of the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy, the fast bowler played a warm-up match where he unleashed his aggression to the next level. He was at the top of his game where he dominated the batsmen by bowling ever so well.
The fast bowler ended up trapping a batsman leg before wicket. The umpire raised his finger soon as Sreesanth made an appeal. The video of which is doing the rounds on social media.

What did the cricketer do during the ban?
The 37-year-old has been a part of a couple of reality shows during this ban. In 2018, he took part in a famous reality show, Bigg Boss, and became the runner up. He acted in Malayalam movie ‘Team 5’ as Hero.
He also acted in 2 Hindi films – Aksar 2 and Cabaret. The cricketer performed the role of Gaurav in Aksar 2 whereas he played the role of Chetta Don in Cabaret movie.
In 2019, he was involved in the Kannada movie Kempe Gowda 2. He won the “Best Villian – Kannada” Award at the 17th Santosham Film Awards. After the ban, he made a grand comeback on the cricket field.
