Raheem Sterling explains how Man City can beat Liverpool to Premier League title!

The Reds play against Fulham tomorrow and have a chance to replace Man City at the top of the Premier League.

Raheem Sterling will look to keep Manchester City’s quadruple bid on course in Saturday’s FA Cup quarter-final at Swansea. The Blues sit top of the Premier League and were drawn against Tottenham in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, with the Carabao Cup already in their possession.

Pep Guardiola has led his side to victories over Rotherham, Burnley and Newport County in the FA Cup this season as the Blues look to lift the trophy for the first time since 2011. As the Blues prepare for the quadruple, Manchester City’s in-form winger Raheem Sterling points out how Manchester City can oust Liverpool and lift the Premier League title.

Raheem Sterling has revealed the mentality that Man City have in order to beat Liverpool to the Premier League title and potentially claim an unprecedented quadruple this season. City and Liverpool are neck and neck at the top of the table, with City leading the Merseyside club by a single point with eight games remaining.

The Blues are in contention to win all four trophies available to them this season as they have already claimed the Carabao Cup, are up against Swansea City in the FA Cup quarter-finals and face Tottenham in the last eight of the Champions League. City looked to have their work cut out to defend their title when they fell seven points behind Liverpool after losing to Newcastle in January and Sterling has revealed how City clawed their way back to the top.

“It’s about persistence. Sometimes you are down and disappointed, but you have to keep going, keep winning our games and focus on ourselves,” the 24-year-old told Sport360.

“That’s what the manager told us and what we have been doing. Now nothing changes either. We are taking things game by game, the Premier League, the Champions League and now the FA Cup.”

“But we have to believe we can win every game, that has to be the mentality.
We are leading the league, but at the same time we can’t focus on the opposition when we are going into any of our games. We have to be single-minded, can’t worry about what other teams are doing, we are not in control of that. We are in control of what we do and when we play, and that’s what we have been doing, focusing on ourselves.”

Author’s Take:

With the kind of form Raheem Sterling, it will a massive task for Liverpool to beat City for the Premier League title. Both the sides are yet to face two of the top 6 sides and with single digit games left it’ll be interesting to see who will slip first and lose a grip in the title race.
