VfB Stuttgart are looking to strike another loan deal for the Arsenal defender, Konstantinos Mavropanos. The player who is currently on a loan spell at the club will be returning back to Arsenal at the end of this season. However, Stuttgart would love to have him for another year and they have already begun the talks.

Konstantinos Mavropanos started his career for a youth football club from his country Greece. He stayed there for 8 years before signing his professional contract for a Greek Super League club, PAS Giannina. In 2016, he signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with the club and made his debut soon enough.

The Greek defender scored the first goal of his career in 2017, in the first match of the new season. He had a promising start to his career and went on to make 20 appearances for the club at such a young age. Because of the talent, he had possessed at such a young age, a Premier League side decided to grab him.

Konstantinos joined Arsenal in January 2018. Although he wasn’t directly involved in the first team, he did earn it very soon. After playing for a month with the U-23 side where he helped the Gunners defeat Manchester United 4-0, he was included in the first team’s Europa League squad.

He made 3 appearances that season. However, the next season he suffered an injury that kept him out for a couple of months. After his return, he struggled to get back into the team and when he did, he injured himself again.

In 2020, he joined the second division German side, Nurnberg for the remainder of the season. He was getting his much-needed playtime and built the required momentum. He went on to make 12 appearances despite getting injured in-between.

Stuttgart in talks with Arsenal for another Konstantinos loan

At the start of the 2020-21 season, Konstantinos signed a new deal with Arsenal before moving out for another loan spell. He joined the Bundesliga side, VfB Stuttgart. He has been having a successful campaign so far with 22 appearances to his name despite the injury curse hitting him again.

Stuttgart who are currently enjoying a safe position in the Bundesliga table would love to have the defender for another year. His influence has been a great one for the team. But, another loan spell depends on how Arsenal is planning to line up next season.

It has been a season to forget for Arsenal. After failing to progress to the final of the Europa League, they lost their only chance of returning to the Champions League after 5 years. To make things even bitter for them, there is a great possibility that they will be missing European football for the first time in 25 years.

Arsenal are currently 9th in the Premier League. They were in an even worse state at one point with relegation looked prominent. However, a slight boost in performance mid-season rescued them from that embarrassment. Champions League and Europa League are looking beyond attainable.

However, their only hope lies in the newly introduced Europa Conference League. For which a qualifying spot can be achieved by finishing 7th. But it won’t be easy as there are at least 4 clubs that are looking to end up at that spot.

Mikel Arteta who is planning for an overhaul is expected to recall many players. If Konstantinos is included in his upcoming plan or not is unknown. Both Arsenal and Stuttgart are on good terms. And as buying him is not possible in the current situation, Stuttgart will try for another loan spell.
