Victor Moses has seen most of his life at Chelsea in fringes buy the Chelsea man is doing every bit right under Antonio Conte in his new role as a wing back. He’s one of those players who are liked by every manager but due to something or the other it’s hard to make it into the first team. José’s return at Chelsea in 2013 hampered his development, the Portuguese shut him and sent him out on loan which didn’t help his cause.
After his great first season where he featured in 43 matches and scored around 10 goals is still his best.
His career has also seen many setback because of injuries, his loan spells didn’t turn out as he would’ve expected at Liverpool, Stoke and then at West Ham.
Apart from injuries, there were various others factors, he hit the ground running at Liverpool, bagging goal in his first game but then came Raheem Sterling and he kept Moses on the bench during his time at Liverpool.
A loan to Stoke City also didn’t turn out too good as injuries came wrecking in his good start at Potters where he bagged in 4 goals in his small spell.
A great pre-season, again followed up with a loan move, this time to the Chelsea’s London rivals, West Ham. Although he made enough starts for Hammers but there was nothing that was stand out about his spell.
Mourinho at the helm of Chelsea meant no return for him even though he continuously did well in the pre seasons. But, Antonio Conte’s arrival has been a boon for him. He looks fresh and ready to fight for his place.
Conte after changing his system gave the Nigerian his awaited chance and he has taken it with open arms, he’s put in a string of great performances. Although the system and the position is quite unfamiliar to his natural attributes but he looks to be ready to take whatever chance that will be offered to him.
Apart from the attacking prospect that he provides to the Italian, he also gives him the much needed solidarity and defensive work that he needs from his wingback.
He has scored 3 goals so far this season. He was in terrorising form against the tigers and toiled up their defense. Then again against Leicester he continued up where he left against the Hull City. He is been very well going forward this season and has been Chelsea one of the consistent performers so far this season.
With such a good start to his season, it’ll be interesting to see how he lives up to it and how he keeps himself away from the injuries and keep his place at Stamford Bridge.
