The Sunrisers Hyderabad fans were eager to know who will replace talisman David Warner. The SRH management have not disappointed them, by picking the hard-hitting English opener Alex Hales.
Ex-captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad, David Warner, was banned from playing in the IPL this week, as a fallout of the ball tampering controversy that happened in the third Australia-South Africa Test in Cape Town.
Sunrisers were quick to announce their new captain in New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson. The question, though, remained about who will replace David Warner, the player.
The Sunrisers management have announced that star English opener Alex Hales will replace the Australian. Hales was a part of the auction that took place in January this year. He was unsold at that time and was a part of the Registered and Available Player Pool (RAPP).

Sunrisers have managed to rope in Hales for his base price of Rs. 1 crore. It is a like-for-like replacement as Warner is also an opener.
The Hyderabad franchise were initially looking to rope in Sri Lankan keeper-batsman Kusal Perera, however, the dynamic batsman refused their advances as he wished to play First Class cricket to further his cause for a Test comeback.
Hales was expected to play for Nottinghamshire in the Royal London One Day Cup later in May. He will be missing two games for his county, even if Sunriers don’t qualify for the play-offs.
He said,“I’m excited to be given this opportunity. While it’s disappointing to miss matches for Outlaws, when I return to England I will be match-hardened and ready to give my all to their cause.”
The 2016 champions have their first game on 9th April against the Rajasthan Royals at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.
In Hales, SRH have found a very good replacement for the swashbuckling opener from Australia. Hales has scored 1456 runs at a strike rate of 136.33 and average of 31.65 in T20I cricket. He is one of the most highly rated openers on the T20 circuit and will be looking to crack the IPL code.
Given his big-hitting capabilities and the ability to face the new ball, he is expected to be a part of the starting XI of SRH.
