Chelsea are in a bit of a spot of bother right now as Courtois inches closer to a move to Real Madrid
It has been a quiet summer for Chelsea so far – when it comes to actual incomings and outgoings. They have been linked to a number of players but funnily enough, the only player they have signed till now was Manchester City’s prime target. Anyway, now with Maurizio Sarri finally taking his place as the head coach of the club for the upcoming season, the Blues will like to get their business done soon. A mega-deal for Juventus trio could come to fruition soon but it is their own players they must worry about first.
Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois have openly flirted with Real Madrid and continue to do so. While Hazard still has a couple of years to go on his deal, Courtois’ contract runs out next summer. It is make-or-break time for the Blues and it seems they have resigned themselves to losing their No.1
They have yet been linked with former favourite Petr Cech and Leicester City’s Kasper Schmeichel. But two more names have popped up as off-field shouts to replace the Belgian – Manchester City outcast, Joe Hart and Sarri’s former favourite, Pepe Reina.
Pepe Reina also is linked with a move to @ChelseaFC. Chelsea are linked to 3 goalkeepers currently and discussions are set to happen. Sarri is very fond of Reina as well as Joe Hart and @acmilan star, 19 year old Gianluigi Donnarumma. #TransferNews #Chelsea #PremierLeague pic.twitter.com/hDE0LtCznA

Hart was the Man City No.1 before Guardiola’s arrival and has gone on two separate loan spells since. It’s clear that he has no future at the Etihad and according to Metro Chelsea are willing to bid 5 million for Hart.
As far as Pepe Reina is concerned, he moved to Milan earlier in the summer after finishing up with his Napoli deal. He penned a three-year contract but Sarri still wants to bring in the former Liverpool stopper according to Premium Sport. Given that AC Milan is keen on a move for Morata, a possible deal for Reina could involve his compatriot moving the other way.
Courtois will be a huge loss for the Blues no matter who they replace him with. Among all the names linked to taking over from him, I believe Gianluigi Donnarumma is the most appropriate. His age is, of course, a huge factor but at his current level too, he is better than almost all of them. I hope for the club’s and its fans’ sake that the Blues do not settle for a player like Reina or Hart.
