T20 WC 2022: The Indian team for the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia was recently revealed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). They also unveiled the roaster for the next home series against Australia and South Africa.
Sanju Samson, the wicketkeeper-batsman, was once more the talk of the town. The 27-year-old will be unable to feature in the World Cup and the bilateral series. The Kerala player was passed over in favour of Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik for the part.
Countless numbers of former players and cricket enthusiasts were shocked to see Sanju being overlooked once more. Danish Kaneria, a former Pakistani player, was one of them. He believes that Samson ought to have been included for the India team.
Samson had the full support of Kanaria, and in his opinion, he had to be given more chances than Rishabh Pant. The 27-year-old, in his view, has established his value even in the few times that he has played for India.
T20 WC 2022: Indian World Cup Roster Is Analyzed By Danish Kaneria
“It is a bit unfair for someone like Sanju Samson. He should have been considered for the T20 World Cup squad. What has he done wrong to not find a place? He has also been ignored for India’s home series against Australia and South Africa. I would have gone for Samson instead of Rishabh Pant,” Kanaria stated in a video uploaded to his YouTube channel.
The 27-year-old batsman was yet again left out of the squad amid Rohit Sharma’s backing earlier this year. The wicketkeeper-batter received high acclaim from Sharma prior to the Sri Lanka home T20I series in March 2022.
Samson was referred to as a talented player with a lot of promise, according to the Indian captain in an earlier statement. Rohit also remarked on Samson’s ability to win vital games. The way he has recently been excluded from the squad, though, runs counter to Sharma’s claims.
Speaking of the Indian World Cup team, Avesh Khan’s exclusion surprised a lot of people. He is the lone member of the most recent Asia Cup team who failed to secure a place for the Indian roaster in the marquee event.
The pacer is neither on the roster for the starting lineup nor the reserve players list. A knee ailment hindered Ravindra Jadeja from competing in the renowned event, hence he was excluded. Given his incredible form, this came as a shock as well.
Harshal Patel and Jasprit Bumrah are making their way back into the side in the meantime. The reserve players are Deepak Chahar, Mohammed Shami, Shreyas Iyer, and Ravi Bishnoi.
