T20 World Cup 2022: Harbhajan Singh has abstained from predicting the result of the India-Pakistan clash in the marquee event. The marquee event is less than four months away from going all guns blazing.

The team management will be selecting the best candidates that will fly to Australia for the showpiece event in October-November. The last time when India and Pakistan locked horns with each other, the Men in Blue lost to the Green Shirts.

Pakistan finally got off the mark against India in the ICC event by beating India by 10 wickets. Notably, Team India will start their World Cup campaign against Pakistan at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground on October 23.

It will be quite interesting to see which team will come through flying colours this time around. India and Pakistan are locking horns with each other only in the ICC events. Both teams haven’t played bilateral series since 2012/13.

Pakistan emerged as the victorious side in the last meeting. At that time, Harbhajan had predicted that Pakistan should simply give a walkover to Team India. The former off-spinner confidently said it because Pakistan never managed to defeat India in the World Cup (ODIs and T20Is).

The former off-spinner had even confessed what he actually told Shoaib Akhtar. He told the former paceman that there is absolutely no sense in Pakistan taking part in the competition and that they should give a walkover.

Pakistan beat India by 10 wickets and nobody really expected this sort of domination from the Green Shirts. Netizens took to their respective social media accounts and trolled Harbhajan Singh.

“I told Shoaib Akhtar that there’s no sense in Pakistan participating; you should give us a walkover. You’ll play, you’ll lose again, and you’ll be upset. Our squad is extremely solid, very powerful, and they will easily beat you guys,” Harbhajan had said before the India and Pakistan clash in 2021.

“We have another T20 World Cup, and this year, I won’t be giving any statement and won’t talk over who will win [between Pakistan and India]. Mauka Mauka or whatever, we will see what is going to happen as last time around things went bad due to this,” he told to Akhtar in a conversation.

Even Shoaib Akhtar had advised the former Indian cricketer to not make any prediction for the clash. On the other hand, Team India have travelled to England for an important overseas assignment.

However, it is worth mentioning here that Team India have never lost to Pakistan as far as the ODI World Cup is concerned. Both teams have top players at their disposal. As a result, we can expect a superb contest when these two teams meet again.

India will play rescheduled Test, three T20Is and three ODIs. Meanwhile, Pakistan recently beat West Indies by 3-0 in the ODI series. They will take on the Netherlands cricket team in the three-match ODI series that starts on August 16. All three fixtures will kick off at Hazelaarweg, Rotterdam.
