T20 World Cup 2022: Parthiv Patel Wants Mohammed Shami’s Inclusion For The Marquee Event

T20 World Cup 2022: Mohammed Shami is one of the experienced fast bowlers in the current Indian cricket team. The right-arm fast bowler is known to deceive the batsman with sheer pace and swing.

He is one of the bowlers who has perfected the art of bowling pin-point yorkers in crunch situations of the game. However, he hasn’t been able to bring the best out of himself in T20Is.

For the unversed, Shami has played only 17 T20Is for the Indian cricket team. He didn’t enjoy bowling in this particular format as he took only 18 wickets to his name.

Earlier, reports stated that Mohammed Shami is not in the team’s plans for the upcoming edition of the T20 World Cup. The selectors reckon that Shami is not fit for the tournament.

Patel feels that Mohammed Shami will make a comeback into the national T20 lineup by using Dinesh Karthik as an example.

“If you look at Dinesh Karthik, his IPL performances help him get selected for India. Mohammad Shami’s performance in the IPL has been really great as well. He’s won Gujarat Titans (GT) the trophy, and he was instrumental in getting those early wickets.

“So, he may not be a bad choice. It will be the same bowling attack as the last World Cup, but these guys have gotten better,” Parthiv Patel stated in a conversation with Cricbuzz.

On the other hand, Shami has played 93 games in the cash-rich Indian Premier League. He has taken as many as 99 wickets to his name and registered his best bowling figures of 3/15.

The 31-year-old fast bowler still has plenty of cricket left in him. “I am still surprised why India is not considering Mohammad Shami as a new ball bowler, especially in those conditions,” Parthiv added.
