T20 World Cup: Rohit Sharma and Co will kick-start their campaign on October 23. They will lock horns with the Pakistan cricket team at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
The upcoming edition of the Twenty20 World Cup will kick off on October 16. On the other hand, the summit clash will take place on November 13 at the MCG.
As many as 45 games will be played throughout the tournament. Meanwhile, India’s fast bowling unit was dealt with a big blow recently.
Earlier, it was reported that Jasprit Bumrah has been ruled out of the entire tournament. The fast bowler suffered a stress fracture and didn’t play the first and second T20I against Proteas.
As a result, he could be out of cricketing action for four to six months to recover. A top BCCI official on the condition of anonymity confirmed the development recently.
Meanwhile, another report added that Jasprit Bumrah’s recovery process is going well. The report further added that Bumrah would be fit in time to take part in the World Cup in Australia.

Meanwhile, former Australian cricketer, Shane Watson has added that India should include Mohammed Siraj for the marquee event if Jasprit Bumrah is unavailable. Siraj is someone who can bowl at a brisk pace and he can be a valuable weapon to India in Australian conditions.
“Jasprit Bumrah complained of back pain in during India’s practice session on Tuesday. The BCCI Medical Team assessed him. He is ruled out of the first T20I,” BCCI had tweeted.
“Bumrah is not going to play the World T20 for sure. He has a serious back condition. It’s a stress fracture and he could be out for a period of six months,” a senior BCCI official told PTI on conditions of anonymity.
While speaking to ICC, former Australia all-rounder, Shane Watson said, “India should include Mohammad Siraj for the T20 World Cup if Jasprit Bumrah is not available”.
According to a report by a Times of India journalist, Bumrah will be fit to play the T20 World Cup. It will be quite interesting to see what the future holds in store for Bumrah.
