T20 World Cup: The forthcoming edition of the ICC T20 World Cup will kick off in Australia later this year in October-November. Meanwhile, players are actively involved in the domestic cricket tournaments.
Players are giving absolutely everything in a bid to earn a place for the upcoming ICC event. Talking about Team India, in particular, they won the inaugural edition in South Africa in 2007.
Team India reached the finals of the 2014 edition. Nonetheless, they lost to Sri Lanka in the finals. Sadly, India’s top order failed to live up to the expectations in the ongoing season.
The likes of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli failed to bring the best out of themselves. The experienced cricketers departed for cheap scores in the ongoing edition of the IPL.
However, Lokesh Rahul has been the only player who remained consistent this season. He is the second-highest run-scorer in the current edition as he has scored 459 runs in 12 games at an average of 45.90.
On the other hand, it is good to see spinners like Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav performing incredibly well in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League.
T20 World Cup: Wasim Jaffer picks his first-choice wicketkeeper for the marquee event
Apart from batters, spinners and pacers, wicketkeeper also plays a substantial role. As a result, the Indian selectors will have to be cautious when it comes to picking the best one.
A wicketkeeper can keep the wickets and can also contribute to the team with the bat. Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer, Wasim Jaffer has picked his first-choice wicketkeeper for the marquee event.
The former cricketer added that his first-choice wicketkeeper will be KL Rahul in case if the team goes ahead with only one wicketkeeper. His second pick is Rishabh Pant.
“My first-choice wicket-keeper will be KL Rahul if the team goes ahead with only one wicket-keeper. The second one will be Rishabh Pant, who can’t be dropped as he can be the future captain of the Indian team.
“Although, he has not been in good form this IPL, but has won many matches for the team. The third one will be Dinesh Karthik. It will be a toss-up between Pant and Karthik.
“I think age is just a number, and he has good fitness, and you cannot rule out Karthik with this kind of form,” said former Indian cricketer, Wasim Jaffer on Sky247.net presents ‘Not Just Cricket’ Show on CricTracker.
