Team India: India’s most productive spin combination “Kulcha” – Kuldeep and Chahal created waves whenever the duo was involved in the white-ball set-up. In fact, India largely benefitted from these two players in the middle overs.
In fact, this combination worked wonders for India during Anil Kumble’s stint as the head coach of the Indian cricket team. However, ever since his departure, things were never the same.
Kuldeep Yadav was taken off from the Indian setup. The chinaman bowler didn’t get opportunities like others who were regular features. However, Yuzvendra Chahal stuck to India’s setup for a long time.
The wrist-spinner did create ripples under Virat Kohli’s leadership. Indian fans witnessed the “Kulcha” combination back in ICC Champions Trophy 2019 final against the Pakistan cricket team.
However, Team India surrendered at the hands of the Green Shirts. Talking about India’s current progress under Rahul Dravid, the Men in Blue kick-started the home series with a bang.
India defeated New Zealand by 1-0 in the Test series. After that, they whitewashed the Kiwis by 3-0 in the three-match T20I series and so Rahul Dravid’s stint got off to a good start.
Team India: Harbhajan Singh feels India should go back to Kuldeep and Chahal
Team India: India’s tour of South Africa didn’t go well as the games progressed in the rainbow nation. India won the Centurion Test and took a 1-0 lead in the series. However, Proteas came from behind and won the series by 2-1.
India was supposed to dictate terms in the ODI series but things didn’t go as per their plan under KL Rahul’s captaincy. The Men in Blue lost three games in a row. As a result, South Africa whitewashed Team India.
Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh reckons Team India should go back to their classic spin combination “Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal”. He feels that Chahal and Ravi Ashwin didn’t do much to trouble the Proteas batters in the ODI series.
During a recent chat on Sports Today, Harbhajan Singh urged the selectors to switch to the “Kulcha” spin combination that might do the trick for India. However, at the same time, Harbhajan Singh respects Ravi Ashwin as a champion bowler.
“With all due respect to R Ashwin, I think he is a champion bowler, but in ODI cricket, I feel, it’s time India starts looking for an option, maybe someone who can take the ball in as well as out. Someone like Kuldeep Yadav could be a great option.”
“Why don’t we go back to the Kulcha combination and see what they can bring to the table?.
