Manchester United and Liverpool must look elsewhere as Sporting CP midfielder is at a pole position to sign for Spurs.
It has been claimed by Portuguese newspaper record that Sporting CP Midfielder Bruno Fernandes is all set to snub an opportunity for a summer move to Manchester United, Manchester City or Liverpool.
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly very close to confirm the signing of Sporting Lisbon midfielder this summer. Reportedly, Spurs and United are the only two teams with a meaningful bid for Bruno Fernandes at the moment.
Previously interested in signing the Argentine striker Giovani Lo Celso of Real Betis but the club released a high transfer clause for the player that Tottenham was unable to meet. After a failed attempt to sign Lo Celso, Pochetino’s side shifted their attention towards Bruno Fernandes who is more likely to sign for Lilywhites as they could offer the prestige of Champions League football next season.
Any deal for signing the Sporting player will cost in excess of £60m and Tottenham are ready to bring him in the summer.
This week Eriksen revealed his desire to leave his club and Tottenham may want to sign Bruno Fernandes as a potential replacement for the wantaway Christian Eriksen.
Christian Eriksen, when asked about his future at the club, quoted that “He’s reached a point in a career where it may be time for a new chapter.”
“I feel that I am in a place in my career, where I might want to try something new. I have the wildest and deepest respect for everything that has happened in Tottenham. But I have also said that I would like to try something new.
I hope there will be clarification during the summer. That’s the plan. It can happen anytime. Everyone wants it best if it happens as soon as possible, but in football things take time.
It depends on Daniel Levy. And another club has to come. Or I have to sit down at the table and negotiate a new contract. If I have to go, then hopefully it will be a step up.
Real Madrid? It’s a step up. But it requires Real Madrid to call Tottenham and say they want Christian. And they have not done so yet, as far as I know.”
Fernandes has excelled as Sporting Lisbon captain this summer and the club is prepared to sell him, but only for the right valuation. The Portuguese star scored 28 goals in all competitions last season and was subsequently called up to Portugal’s Nations League squad.
Fernandes has registered himself in a more advanced midfield role this season with terrific Primeira Liga number of 20 goals and 13 assists. Rumors have been stoked by the player himself about Premier League switch and his dream to play for England someday. With such rumors, it can be concluded that Tottenham can bring the Portuguese Star to Premier League in the summer transfer.
