Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea got some historic tags after they beat Champions Liverpool last night in Anfield. It was Chelsea’s win in Anfield after six years and one goal from Mason Mount was enough to write history for the Blues against former player Mohamed Salah.
Jurgen Klopp is addressing issues one after another in the squad and the Chelsea fixture gave him another last night. Chelsea’s backline got complete control over Liverpool’s threatening front three. The substitution of Mohammed Salah in the 62nd minute was reflecting this.
The Reds started with the traditional front three. But, Chelsea’s attacking moves were sharp enough to threaten the backline of Klopp. Hence, the Reds boss wanted the attackers to cover up the threatening runs from Chelsea strikers.
Salah was called off in the second half by Klopp to keep more defensive play by bringing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain into the midfield. Because the Egyptian failed to help out the temporary line-up in the backline of Liverpool.
The match ended in mere desperation and later Salah’s agent made a critical move on Twitter. Rammy Abbas Issa, who represents Salah, tweeted a single full stop moments after the Liverpool star was taken off. And, it attracted much criticism from the fans and pundits on Liverpool. (Express)
Blues rise and Reds fall after Salah failed to impress former club:
Thomas Tuchel would be the happiest manager of Premier League today. He had a dream start in London with 11 games unbeaten. The Anfield win takes Chelsea back to the top four and the table outfit is favoring Chelsea with a clear margin.
Tuchel’s next task is Everton and the Monday fixture would be decisive in the top four placings of teams. Mason Mount, the player of the match once again confirmed his strong intention in the club.
His goal was a classic one with much quality from a young attacking midfielder. Also, Timo Werner in the center-forward role displayed a great show with several chances. Chelsea attackers had 5 shots on target out of 11 shots.
Meanwhile, Liverpool’s intention limited to a single shot on target out of 7. The performance of keeper Allison was remarkable and he fought hard to keep the scoreline at 1-0. Jurgen Klopp has is taking down all the criticism as they are suffering to keep the position within the top four.
The title intentions are out of reach for them but they would like to finish in the top four. In the post-match talk show, Klopp revealed how challenging was the fight against Chelsea’s top side.
“I just brought on fresh legs,” he said. “Mo [Salah] looked like today he suffered a bit, he played a lot of games. I could have taken off Sadio or Bobby, that is all clear but at that moment it looked like Mo. Milner, we bought on to wake them up a bit and keep them in the game because we needed one situation,” Klopp explained his decision on substitutions.
The defensive problems of the Reds causing them crucial points in the table. Liverpool is expecting a healing process in the summer transfer window and they need their first line of defense to wipe out all the stains. The rest of the season is more challenging for the champions as they are taking multiple competitions with the incomplete squad.
