Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has said every game is a final for the Reds after their below-par start to the 22/23 season.

The Merseyside outfit have not had the best of starts to the season, with the club languishing at eighth in the Premier League points table.

Klopp’s men have played nine matches in the English top flight so far this season and have three wins, four draws, and two defeats in those.

Liverpool have 13 points so far in the Premier League this season and they are already 14 points behind table-toppers Arsenal. But Mikel Arteta’s men have played 10 matches, one more than Liverpool.

Speaking at the pre-match press conference ahead of Liverpool’s Premier League match against West Ham, Klopp stressed they are in a position where every game is a final for them.

When you create a start as we created, we’re at the moment in the season that, from now on, they are all finals. We realised that a few weeks ago. I don’t think you can give it more importance than we already put in,” Klopp said, when asked how important the West Ham game is.

He added: “We respect West Ham a lot, caused us a lot of problems here and there. They have really quality players. Michail Antonio played 80 games in the past and now they can share that upfront. [Lucas] Paqueta, is a great player. [Thilo] Kehrer, I know from Germany, is a top-class defender. Just to name a few.

Meanwhile, Liverpool goes into the game on the back of their 1-0 win over Manchester City in the Premier League.

Liverpool hosted the defending Premier League champions at Anfield and earned all three points, courtesy of a second-half goal from Mohamed Salah. In the process, Liverpool also inflicted on Man City their first league defeat of the season.

West Ham, meanwhile, heads into the fixture against Liverpool after sharing points with Southampton after playing out a 1-1 draw. West Ham sits 12th in the Premier League with 11 points from 10 matches.

Liverpool will be aiming to get the better of the London outfit and secure all three points. Anything less than a win would see Liverpool lose more ground in the top-four race.

The Reds are now six points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, who have 19 points from their first nine matches.
