Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham, all three Premier League sides are in a dire need of a new face in front of the goal. But with 31st January fast approaching, none of those three teams are any close to signing a striker than they were a few days ago. Let us take a look at the transfer rumours of 22nd January for the top six English Premier League sides:
Ozil to D.C. United?

The German playmaker has endured a difficult time at Arsenal in the past few months. And despite rediscovering his form under Mikel Arteta, Mesut Ozil continues to be linked with D.C. United. According to the Washington Post, the MLS side has met with Ozil’s representatives for a potential move in January 2021.
DC are without a marquee player after Wayne Rooney left the club at the end of the last season. Ozil, the 31-year old is clearly not at his best at Arsenal at the moment but it will be interesting to see how plays under Arteta in the coming months.
Chelsea and PSG in Cavani Stand-off:

Earlier today, it was reported that Chelsea had tabled a bid for Edinson Cavani. But the reports from The Telegraph suggest that the Blues are in a stand-off with PSG for the striker’s transfer.
With Cavani in the last six months of his contract, PSG are looking to make a profit by directly selling the striker. But reports suggest that Blues are willing to offer a six-month loan deal with a substantial loan fee. Cavani’s parents saying the striker wants to move to Atletico Madrid hasn’t helped Chelsea’s cause either.
Liverpool enters Soumare race:

After Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham, Liverpool have now entered the race for midfielder Boubakary Soumare. The 20-year old Lille midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to England in the last few weeks.
Soumare is a highly rated defensive midfielder and according to Le10 Sport, the Reds are willing to sign him to strengthen the midfield. But a move in January looks difficult for any of the EPL sides with no official bids from either one of them.
Manchester City had a day off:

There was no big transfer update from Manchester City after their narrow win against Sheffield United. But Aguero, who scored a winner for City against the Blades, continues to be linked with David Beckham’s Inter Miami.
The Citizens are also working to extend Leroy Sane’s contract. The German has been heavily linked with a move to Bayern but is reportedly considering staying at the Etihad.
Super agents put United in a spot of bother:

United fans will not be happy with what two super agents, Jorge Mendes and Mino Raiola had to say about their respective players on Wednesday.
Paul Pogba’s agent, Mino Riola stated that his player is currently not happy at United. “For now he needs to be fit then I have to get both parties happy. If one is not then there are other ways to resolve that. I don’t say anything for sure. Today he is not happy because he is not playing.” Did Riola just point towards Pogba’s exit in summer? Let’s wait and watch.
Bruno Fernandes has been on Manchester United’s radar for almost a month now but there has been hardly any major update in the past few days. Bruno’s agent, Jorge Mendes also commented on the transfer situation, “I don’t know. If he doesn’t leave now, he will leave for sure in the summer because Sporting have already spoken with other clubs.” With the comments, Mendes confirmed that Sporting are in talks with other clubs as well and the move to United is nowhere near confirmed.
Tottenham turns to Real Sociedad striker Willian Jose:

Spurs are looking to sign a striker in the winter transfer window after a long-term injury to Harry Kane. After flirting with a number of big names in the past few days, a new name has now come up in the rumours.
Real Sociedad’s 6ft3in tall striker, Willian Jose is now on Tottenham’s radar. But Spurs are now willing to pay the 28-year old’s release clause of €70m and are willing to open negotiations with the Spanish club. The Brazilian has scored 8 goals in 20 La Liga appearances this season.
