Tom Curran insane kick brings down Sohail’s Bails

As the countdown to the World Cup continues, Tom Curran caught the eye for England during the third ODI against Pakistan at Bristol on Tuesday. Just as Pakistan were beginning to develop a strong third-wicket partnership, the 24-year-old showed off his nifty footwork as he ran out Haris Sohail for 41 runs by side-footing the ball onto the stumps.

Sohail thought there was an opportunity to steal a single when Imam ul-Haq played a defensive shot at his feet. But Sohail hadn’t considered Curran would outpace him to the other end and then didn’t do himself any favours by not diving to try and make up the ground.

England have often been handed some criticism for playing football in their warm-ups. On one occasion Jonny Bairstow was ruled out of an ODI against Sri Lanka with a right ankle ligament injury picked up in the football warm up. But they have persisted with it and reaped the rewards somewhat when Curran accurately found the stumps to dismiss Haris.

Curran is currently fighting for a place in the World Cup squad and is thought to be one of those in danger of missing out following Jofra Archer’s introduction to the team. England currently lead the series 1-0 and won the toss and elected to field first and made two changes prior to the third ODI with Joe Denly and Curran replacing Jos Buttler and Adil Rashid in the side.

Pakistan’s Imam-ul-Haq produced a powerful innings and reached his century from 97 deliveries as the tourists looked well set to mount a good total with the score at 282-4 from 42 overs.
