Last season Chelsea was under a transfer ban and many expected them to use players from their loan army. Fikayo Tomori was one such player, the Englishman had spent the previous season under Frank Lampard at Derby. During the first half of the 2019/20 season, he was very good for Chelsea.
However, during the second half, he was unable to recapture that same form. Thus he was expected to leave the club on loan in order to get more minutes for this season. It is no secret that Tomori was very close to leaving Chelsea on the deadline day. However, he rejected the chance to go on loan to West Ham.
The Englishman said that he really thought through his decision to stay at the club. He wants to improve himself and again get back into the team. Fikayo also explained that things change very quickly in football and that is the nature of the game.
“I made the decision in the end to stay and to improve more and try to get into the team, play some games, gain some more experience and try to get back to levels I was at last season”Chelsea Mike’d Up Pod.
It could be a good chance for the Englishman to prove himself. Rudiger has been given the cold treatment by Lampard. While Andreas Christensen hasn’t been impressive despite so many chances.
Hudson Odoi promise on his potential
Callum Hudson Odoi broke into Chelsea’s first team under Maurizio Sarri. The Italian was constantly questioned as to why the Englishman was not being given playing time. There was a time when he had made his first start for England but he was yet to start a game for Chelsea in the Premier League.
However, a long term injury delayed his game time. He was expected to have a big role under Frank Lampard but Mason Mount has been given preferential treatment by Lampard. Though now it seems like he is back on track.
Recently he was shortlisted in the last 20 of the Golden Boy award. The likes of Jadon Sancho, Erling Haaland, Mason Greenwood, etc. are some big names that have also been shortlisted.
During the last days of the transfer window, he was heavily linked to Bayern Munich as well. Hudson Odoi’s recently stated that he just wants to work hard to be a top player. He believes that the best is yet to come from him.
I’ve always had the same mindset, that you have to work hard and give it your all to become a top player, or just to play at the top level.
René Girard wants more respect for Oliver Giroud
René Girard might not the manager many people would have heard of. However, Montpellier fans fondly remember him 2011-12 Ligue 1 title. It was during that season Oliver Giroud made a name for himself where he socred 21 goals and eventually earned a move to Arsenal.
Giroud is also highly rated by France manager Didier Deschamps. He has now scored more goals for France than Micheal Platini. The Frenchman is now on 42 goals for the French national team while Thiery Herny has the No.1 spot with 51 goals.
Rene Girard believes that his former striker deserves more credit for what he has achieved in the game. He has also hailed his Giroud for always answering back at his critics with his performances.
The Frenchman has won five FA Cups, one Europa League and a world cup as well. Even at the age of 34, he is doing very well and he seems ready to take on Timo Werner and Tammy Abraham for a spot in the starting eleven.
We speak a lot about foreign forwards, but the one time we have a little Frenchie, who’s polite, good, respectful, and does extraordinary things, there’s a need to find faults.
“He deserves to be looked at differently. And honestly, he needs to be strong, because he’s sometimes been questioned. He’s always answered, and that’s beautiful.”Girard said- France Bleu ( via Sport Witness )
