Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte gives an update regarding Richarlison‘s calf injury. Antonio Conte has confirmed that the Brazilian forward will not miss Qatar World Cup. The forward is still waiting for the full diagnosis but has already completed the scanning.
But Richarlison will miss out on the away game against Manchester United. The Brazilian was forced to leave the field against his former club Everton on Sunday.
While talking to ESPN Brasil, Richarlison broke into tears while explaining his injury. The Brazilan talked about his World Cup dream: “It’s kind of hard to say because it’s close to the realization of my dream [the World Cup].”
He also added that he had the same kind of injury while playing at Everton. And he feels that his latest injury is similar to that. The former Evertonian added: “The last time when I was at Everton, I was out of action for about two months.”
Richarlison is one of the integral parts of Brazil’s National team. The Tottenham Hotspur man even replaced in-form Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus in the national team. The forward has netted seven goals in his last seven games for his country.
Conte On Richarlison’s Return
While talking to The Athletic, Manager confirmed the news of relief to the Spurs fan. Conte did confirm that the player had an MRI. But the details of his injury have not been revealed yet.
The Italian spoke: “But for sure against (Manchester) United he is not available. I can confirm this, that the player is not risking playing at the World Cup, absolutely.”
Though Richarlison is not his first choice of Conte, he is consistent in his performance. The Brazilian has registered two goals and three assists in all competitions for Tottenham Hotspur.
Conte will have a headache if Dejan Kulusevski also doesn’t return from his injury against Manchester United. To play without Kulusevski, Conte will have to use a 3-5-2 formation.
On Kulusevski’s Return
On Kulusevski’s return, Conte said: “Kulusevski is working. We are going day by day with him. I don’t know about the game against Manchester United, the doctors are working with him.”
Tottenham Hotspur’s Last Game Against United
In Conte’s last game against United back in March, Cristiano Ronaldo scored a brilliant hat-trick. The Italian manager spoke: “I have great admiration for Cristiano, for his professionalism, but I hope [Wednesday] is not like last season. We lost 3-2, but we lost against him, not against United last season.”
According to Goal, Richarlison has sustained a mild calf strain after having a medical exam on Monday. The possibility is that he may return in around two weeks.
