Tottenham Hotspur News: Conte Says It May Take Many Years To Complete “Impossible” Tottenham Task

Tottenham Hotspur News: Spurs boss Antonio Conte has said it might take many, years to change Tottenham into a competitive and stable football club.

The manager also refused to comment on any future transfer plans and says the focus is only on ending the season strong.

The Italian manager spoke ahead of Tottenham’s clash against Everton FC who are currently in a relegation battle and are scrambling for points to ensure their safety as they sit a point above the Relegation zone.

When asked about bringing experienced players into the club during the next transfer window the manager remained adamant that he was only focused on finishing this season on a positive note.

“The most important thing right now is to be fully concentrated on the current situation,” he said. “It is more important than the future.“Now we have to solve the situation because we want to finish in the best possible position on the table. Then we will see.

Tottenham currently is 7th place in the Premier League and three points behind Arsenal who have a game in hand. Tottenham have lost four out of their last six Premier League games which is a far cry from the form they showed after Conte’s arrival.

“It is of utmost importance to be completely focused only on the last 13 games. We want to finish in the best possible position come to the end of the season. “Then we can speak about multiple topics including experience or lack of experience.”

Conte on the problem with his team

They have also been knocked out of all the cup competitions and currently are only fighting for a top-four spot. They were eliminated from the FA Cup in shocking fashion by Middlesbrough in what was surely the biggest upset of the week.

“We are definitely disappointed,” he said. “Everyone connected to Tottenham Football club because we were eliminated by Middlesbrough. “For me, it’s a massive disappointment because the FA Cup was a real target for the club. It should have been in our minds to keep us focused on one target. Now we have only the rest of the current season to play for.” Conte said.

“Tottenham’s main problem is that there are too many highs and lows. It wants to be a strong team capable of challenging the best of Europe for the biggest cups and competitions. The club wants to achieve things. But the first requirement for that to happen is that there has to be stability. To avoid these highs and lows.

“But to achieve this kind of feat, and to change the trajectory of the club takes many, many years at Tottenham.“In a short period of time is it frankly impossible. And it’s Not just me but for the other coaches and managers that have come here.”
