Tottenham Hotspur News: Tottenham Hotspur‘s new forward, Richarlison has questioned his former team, Everton‘s ambition.
The Brazilian forward has recently joined Spurs from the Toffees on a £60 million deal in July. His big money move surprised other Premier League clubs as well.
The forward tried to justify leaving his former club behind because the club “had a lack of ambition.”
Richarlison was one of the star players at Goodison Park beside Calvert-Lewin. The Brazilian became a fan favourite after helping the club from relegation. He played a crucial role in the squad.
The Brazilian International scored 53 goals in 152 games after leaving Watford in 2018. The player was the second most-expensive signing of all time in the history of Everton.
Richarlison left Everton after four years and joined Antonio Conte‘s Tottenham squad.
Despite he had a good season at Goodison Park, the club found themselves in a relegation battle last season. In the end, they finished the season in 16th position.

In an interview with FourFourTwo, Richarlison said: “It’s always a tough call when you have such strong connections with your club, and that was definitely the case for me,”
But then he talked about his dissatisfaction with the club. He spoke: “I was happy at Everton and I’m grateful for everything I learned there. It’s a big club with a lot of history. However, perhaps they’re suffering from a lack of ambition nowadays. You know, that eagerness to win matches and trophies. I spent four years there and I could see there was still a very long way to go to achieve big things.”
But he thinks that “it was the right time to move on, and the club also had to make some money.” The forward also told that he is “delighted with this new challenge at Spurs.”
At the beginning of the last season, Pundits predicted that Everton would finish in the top half of the table, but it ended up with the opposite outcome.
The Brazilian talked about his frustration with the last season and gave some views on Everton’s poor finish. He spoke in the interview: “It was a very stressful season, to be honest. We had a lot of injuries and the squad wasn’t big enough to cope.”
While explaining Richarlison’s exit, Everton manager Frank Lampard said: “Firstly on Richy, it was a real pleasure to manage him for four months. He was such a wholehearted player and a quality player. A quiet lad, not a huge communicator – that’s just how he was.” He also wished his former player by saying: “We wish Richy well at Tottenham.”
Richarlison’s new South American teammate also revealed more about the player in training in an interview with Sky Sports. He spoke: “He’s a player who puts in absolutely everything, all the time.”
Richarlison’s Spurs move has a mixed reaction. At the start of the season, he mostly started from the bench. But his Champions League double helped Tottenham win their opening group-stage fixture against Marseille.
