Tottenham Hotspur player Richarlison faced his former club Everton for the first time after leaving this summer. But the game was not pleasant for him.
Spurs paid a £60milllion transfer fee for the talented Brazilan forward.
But he criticised Everton for having a “lack of ambition” in recent years.
Frank Lampard shows his disagreement with Richarlison’s comments over Everton’s lack of ambition before their clash against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
His Past Comments Over Everton

Richarlison made a £35 million move from Watford in 2018 to arrive at Goodison park. During an interview with Tottenham Hotspur’s official website, the forward criticised his former club, Everton.
He spoke: “I was happy at Everton and I’m grateful for everything I learned there. It’s a big club with a lot of history. However, perhaps they’re suffering from a lack of ambition nowadays.”
Lampard Defending His Team

Everton boss Lampard refused to criticize his former player. At the pre-match press conference before the Tottenham Hotspur game, he spoke: “Every club is relative, this club has spent a lot of money over the last five, six, seven years, so ambition can be measured in different ways.”
Lampard also pointed out the rich history of the club. The former Blues’ boss also added: “If you’re talking about the here and now, I’m certainly ambitious. I wouldn’t be here if I wasn’t. I’m trying to build something.”
Lampard talked about the difference between Everton not being in the Champions League, and Tottenham playing there. But he wished “Richy well”, as the forward “gave everything for this club”.
The 25-year-old has already made an impact after joining Antonio Conte’s side. He scored his first two Champions League goals in their 2-0 win over Marseille.
Lampard is surprised by people’s doubts over the Samba star’s success. As he spoke: “I don’t know why the rest of the world should be surprised, maybe it’s because he’s come from Everton”. Lampard praised his player for his “unpredictable” style and loved the experience of working with him. But the England legend also pointed out that they need to ‘nullify’ him as a threat.
Injury While Playing for Tottenham Hotspur

But sadly on Saturday’s game, Richarlison suffered an injury in the second half. Yves Bissouma replaced him in the 52nd minute. The attacker is hoping that the injury not being too serious as the World Cup nears.
While speaking to ESPN Brasil, Richarlison was in tears. He spoke: “The last time when I was at Everton, I was out of action for about two months.”
The forward did his best to achieve a spot in the Brazil National team before World Cup. But this injury can shatter his World Cup dream.
Conte was not able to confirm the seriousness of the injury. However, the manager admitted that the injury does not look good after the 2-0 win against Everton.
