Bournemouth will not let Callum Wilson leave in a cut-price fee amid interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
Tottenham Hotspur is keen to sign £30million valuation Callum Wilson from Bournemouth as an understudy to Harry Kane. However, the interest in signing Wilson as a backup striker for Kane may stumble due to the price tag on him.
But Bournemouth has no intention of making the England international leave on a cut-price fee in the summer transfer window. The Cherries have already offloaded one of his prized assets Nathan Ake to Manchester City for a £41million transfer fee. They have received a good amount from the transfer. Now they are not in a hurry to offload their prime goalscorer for cheap in the summer.
Wilson, 28-year old has been a regular player for Bournemouth and is a top-flight goalscorer. He’s also been a regular player for England squad. He has racked up a total of 8 goals along with 3 assists so far in the 2019-20 Premier League campaign. The center forward has also appeared twice in the fA cup and twice in the EFL cup. He still has three years left in his current contract to run down.
The reason why Callum Wilson is wanted by Tottenham Hotspur
Jose Mourinho is ready to revamp his side’s forward option after watching his team floundering in the absence of Harry Kane. The 27-year-old forward sustained a hamstring injury during 1-0 loss to Southampton during January that ruled him out till April.
Kane fully recovered from the injury at the end of April. But when his injury ended the football was already suspended due to the outbreak of Coronavirus global pandemic. Thus, Kane missed leading the line for most of the season.
Mourinho is aware of the imbalance that Kane’s absence created wants to sign a bonafide back up for the season ahead. Tottenham Hotspur has completed the deal for keeper swoop for keeper Joe Hart on Tuesday.
Calum Wilson is one of the names in the target list and is wanted by the Lilywhites as an understudy for Kane. But the £30 million valuations seem quite much during the time of global crisis and that too for a backup striker.
Why Bournemouth can turn down Tottenham offer?
There are other interested Premier League clubs with the likes of West ham, Everton, and Crystal Palace. These clubs not only want to sign the striker but are also ready to give him regular first-team football.
There come many reasons for Bournemouth to reject the offer of Tottenham offers them one. The Cherries are in no hurry to sell him off as they know the worth of tHeir regular team player. Even though the player wishes to play for top-flight football.
Joe Hart has signed a two year deal with Tottenham as an understudy to Hugo Lloris. Despite strong interest from the Turkish club Karagumruk. He mentioned that the past years have been difficult for him due to very Less game time. Adding to it, Hart says that he has a lot more to offer and a lot more to give.
Twelfth Man Opinion
Callum Wilson has three years of time in his current deal. Along with this Cherries wants to retrieve the £3 million they have spent in signing Wilson from Coventry City in 2014.
