Tottenham Hotspur news: Spurs complete Fraser Forster news
The London-based club have signed the 34-year old goalkeeper Fraser Forster on a free transfer from Premier League club Southampton. Forster is Spurs’ second signing in this transfer window following the arrival of Ivan Perisic from Inter Milan.
Speaking to the Spurs TV, he said: “I’m absolutely delighted, This is a fantastic opportunity for me. When a team like this comes along, it’s impossible to say no. I couldn’t get here fast enough to get it done.”
The England international will serve as a back-up for Hugo Lloris at the London Stadium. His arrival coincides with the end of goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini’s loan spell at the club.
The Italian struggled to impress at the London Stadium following his loan move from Atalanta last summer. He managed to make just 10 appearances last season, none of which came in the EPL.
Alessandro Bastoni wants to join the Spurs
According to 90min, Alessandro Bastoni has told Inter Milan he wants to link up with Antonio Conte at Tottenham Hotspur this transfer window. The Italian manager has already signed Ivan Perisic from his former club and is now looking to bolster his central defensive options.
Bastoni enjoyed a decent 2021-22 campaign at the San Siro. The Italy international played 31 Serie A games last season, scoring one goal. According to WhoScored, he averaged 1.4 tackles, 1.1 interceptions, and 1.8 clearances per 90 in the league.
Apart from Spurs, Manchester United are another Premier League club who have shown interest in signing Bastoni in recent weeks. The Red Devils struggled defensively last season, conceding 57 goals in 38 league games.
Making improvements to his defensive unit will be among the key priorities for their new manager Erik ten Hag during the upcoming transfer window. He has identified Bastoni as one of his top targets.
