Tottenham planning for a swap deal for PSG world cup star.

Spurs best defender could be on his way to PSG with an exchange of a 27-year old Belgian international.

Lilywhites best defender, Toby Alderweireld could be on his way to PSG, with full-back Thomas Meunier going the other way in the next transfer window, says reports.

Paris Saint Germain, the French champions have reportedly evived their interest in the Belgian centre-back. He recently signed a 12-month contract extension with his club.

A clause in the new deal allows him to leave for £25million during the summer until two weeks before the summer transfer window shuts.

Manchester United were also linked with the centre-back in the summer.

But tough negotiator and Spurs chairman Daniel Levy refused to let the 29-year-old join the Red Devils.

However, Levy could be persuaded by a club he has had success at dealing with in the past in PSG, reports The Telegraph.

Spurs signed Lucas Moura and Serge Aurier from the Paris side, and the two clubs are thought to have a good relationship since then.

Lilywhites boss Mauricio Pochettino is unlikely to let him leave on the cheap deal though, with the Belgium international an integral part of his current plans.

The former Ajax man has missed just two Premier League matches all season, as Spurs have romped up to third place.

The Belgium international is considered one of the best in his position having heavily impressed as he helped his country to third place at the World Cup.

Tottenham opts to bring in Thomas Meunier, it is thought they will have to give one of Aurier or Kieran Trippier the boot.

Pochettino is looking to shake up his squad this transfer window by selling several fringe players.

Fernando Llorente is in line for a return to Athletic Bilbao, while Vincent Janssen and Georges-Kevin N’Koudou are both on the transfer list to find new clubs.

Moussa Dembele, who is out of contract at the end of the season, may leave this month in order to recoup something for him.

Author’s take:

Spurs could let Toby Alderweireld leave only if they are able to get their hands on right-back Thomas Meunier. The tough negotiator Daniel levy will only lose the grip of his best defender only if they’ll get their hands on a worthy swap deal.
