Christian Eriksen is all set to bid goodbyes to Tottenham after 7 seasons as Spurs ready to sell a player with a no. of clubs interested.
The latest club to join the bidding war for Christian Eriksen is PSG. Along with Manchester United and Inter-Milan, PSG are the latest addition to the clubs interested in the Denmark International’s signature. Christian Eriksen openly showcased his wishes to leave the club when he opted out of signing a new contract with Spurs. Even Jose Mourinho hasn’t been able to convince the player to change his mind otherwise. Manchester United recently opted out for the Spurs man. The Red Devils are more interested in Sporting Lisbon’s Bruno Fernandes.
While Inter were on the front seat for the Denmark International’s signature so far. Their move has been blocked by the French giants. Inter made an earlier bid of 8.5 million euros and later upped it to 15 million. Rumours said that the Inter president was on a plane to London to finalize the move. Spurs, however, are holding ours for move worth at least 17 million pounds for their player.
And apparently, PSG are set to test Inter’s will by entering into the race with a bid of £14m. The Parisians see Eriksen as the perfect start to get on a cut-price fee, according to The Mirror. Even that seems like a bargain for a player like Christian Eriksen. Eriksen is one of the best mid-fielder in the world. His most suited position being CAM, where he can freely move and create chances.
While Eriksen wanted a move to Real Madrid in the summer of 2019. The move failed to materialize. Real Madrid were also interested in the player but they seem more interested in the Red Devils’ Paul Pogba. This leaves Inter and PSG the only two options for Christian, who currently seem ready to play anywhere but North London.
Jose Mourinho on Eriksen’s situation
“He played very well,” said the Spurs boss.
“Played very well, very professional which is what I expect from him. “If his decision is to leave I think he has to leave with his head up if he gives everything which is what he tries to do for the team. “Fans, it’s always to respect, we have to respect but I think the boy did it for us today.”
Alternatives for Spurs
Meanwhile, Tottenham have signed Portugal youngster Gedson Fernandes on loan for 18 months. The Benfica teenager is believed to have completed a medical on Monday. Spurs will have the option to buy Fernandes for around £40m at the end of the loan.
Tottenham loaned Giovani Lo Celso from Real Betis in the summer of 2019. The youngster took his time but sure looks like a future prospect for the Spurs. He could fill the void for Christian Eriksen. While Tottenham are also looking at Bruno Fernandes as a replacement for Christian Eriksen.
