Transfer news: Marseille forward Bamba Dieng will leave the Ligue 1 side soon, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Dieng’s next destination has not yet been finalized, but the 22-year-old Senegalese attacker has attracted transfer interest from more than two Premier League clubs. They see him as a player for the present and the future.
Newcastle United have been linked with a move for Dieng, so have West Ham and Everton. Both Newcastle and West Ham had shown interest in Dieng in the previous January transfer window, but the Senegal international chose to remain at Marseille.
However, he is likely to be on the move this summer given he has barely featured for Marseille since Igor Tudor became the club’s manager. The forward will cost around €15m, and talks between Dieng’s agents and Marseille will continue in the coming days.
Transfer news: Who is Bamba Dieng?

Dieng plays for Marseille and Senegal national football. He primarily plays as a striker, but can also ply his trade as a winger.
Dieng began his senior career with Senegalese side Diambars in the 2019/20 season. He joined Marseille in October 2020 and has since made 42 appearances for Les Phocéens’ senior team.
He enjoyed an impressive 2021/22 season as he featured in 36 matches for Marseille. 25 of those appearances came in the Ligue 1 as Marseille finished second behind eventual champions PSG. He also scored seven goals in the French top-flight.
Dieng still has two years left on his current contract with Marseille, but a move appears likely. He has hardly featured for the French side during pre-season, and Marseille are also lining up a move for Alexis Sanchez as his replacement.
Dieng was also not included in the Marseille squad for the Ligue 1 2022/23 season opener vs Reims. Marseille won the game 4-1.
Dieng debuted for Senegal national football team in 2020 and has so far made 11 appearances. He was part of the Senegal squad that won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2021.
He is also the recipient of Ligue 1 Goal of the Year in the 2021/22 season. Dieng won the award for his goal against RC Strasbourg on December 21. The attacker connected with a cross from the right with a bicycle kick and found the back of the net in Marseille’s 2-0 win over Strasbourg.
