New Zealand all-rounder James Neesham made his IPL debut in the year 2014, with now-defunct Delhi Daredevils. He neither did justice with the bat nor with the ball. He played only four matches that season and ended up as the poor performer for the franchise.
Neesham managed to score just 42 runs from 4 games at an average of 14. He registered his best score of just 22 in that season. The all-rounder came under fire for his poor performances. The 30-year-old also failed to score runs at a faster pace as he was striking the balls at 91.42.
Jimmy Neesham was also the worst bowler for DD franchise in 2014 season where he managed to pick just one wicket in four games. He ended up as the most expensive bowler for the team. Having bowled 9 overs, Neesham gave away 91 runs at an economy rate of 10.11.
Same old story for Jimmy Neesham
Jimmy Neesham was purchased by Kolkata Knight Riders for the eighth edition of the Indian Premier League. However, he did not play even a single game for them due to injury. He was subsequently dropped from the Knight Riders squad in the next season.
In this season’s IPL auction, Kings XI Punjab purchased Jimmy Neesham for a base price of Rs 50 lakhs. Even in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League at the United Arab Emirates, Jimmy Neesham failed to perform well as an all-rounder.
Neesham scored just 17 runs from four games this season at an average of 17. He registered his best score of 10*. He picked two wickets to his name, Neesham ended up as the expensive bowler for Kings XI Punjab as his economy rate reads 10.16.
Troll calls Neesham ‘Overpaid cricketer’
Jimmy Neesham was on the receiving end of trolls on social media for his string of poor performances. Earlier, Indian cricket expert Aakash Chopra claimed Jimmy Neesham is ‘not a match-winner’.
Now again, one of the Twitter users took to official handle to troll Jimmy Neesham. “Stick to cricket. We don’t need your entitled opinion on the world. Overpaid celebrity hitting a cricket ball. Remember the world cup final when you bombed in the super over?”
After coming across this message on his Twitter handle, Jimmy Neesham responded to the troll. The New Zealand all-rounder wrote: “Yeah that bomb was pretty good. About 20 rows back from my memory.”
Kings XI Punjab are placed sixth in the IPL 2020 points table with 8 points. They won four games and lost six games in their campaign. KL Rahul’s side are looking to win all the remaining four games this season.
They are still in contention to make it to the playoffs if they take all the games very seriously. They are playing against Sunrisers Hyderabad today in a must-win game. After that, they will play against Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings.
