Defending La Liga Champions Real Madrid registered yet another win as they defeated Sevilla in their latest match in the Spanish league.
Luka Modric, Lucas Vazquez and Federico Valverde scored for the Los Blancos in a 3-1 win. Erik Lamela was on target for Sevilla.
Real Madrid were coming into the match after winning nine of their first ten matches in the league including a Clasico victory over arch-rivals. They faced a Sevilla side who are not performing at their best, throughout the season. Real Madrid were missing their captain and the recent Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side started a 4-3-3 setup. Thibaut Courtois made his first appearance since the Madrid derby. Ferland Mendy, David Alaba, Eder Militao and Daniel Caravajal played in the Real Madrid defense. Luka Modric, Aurelien Tchouameni and Toni Kroos started in the midfield. Vinicius Junior and Federico Valverde played in the wings while Rodrygo was given the duty to lead the lines.
Real Madrid Continued Their Brilliant Run
The Los Blancos got a great start to the match. Croatian midfielder Luka Modric scored the opener within the first five minutes after tapping in a brilliant low cross from Vinicius Jr.
Madrid then kept the pressure on Sevilla throughout the first half but Carlo Ancelotti’s side missed a lot of chances. As a result, they went into the break with just a 1-0 lead.
Then suddenly after the restart, Sevilla scored the equaliser through Erik Lamela in the 54th minute. This brought life to the game. After conceding Madrid brought their best game.
Brazilian winger Vinicius Jr. made another darting run before releasing Lucas Vazquez. Vazquez who is known for his contribution from the bench did no mistake in finding the back of the net.
Uruguayan midfielder Valverde then scored the third goal for Real Madrid with an astonishing strike from the edge of the box.
The midfielder has been in great form off late. He has already scored six goals for Los Blancos in La Liga and the long rangers are becoming a big weapon in his arsenal.
The match ended 3-1 in the favour of Carlo Ancelotti’s team. With this win, they will stay at the top of La Liga. Real Madrid currently have 31 points from eleven matches and are six points clear of second-placed Barcelona. They will face RB leipzing in theri next match.
Meanwhile, after their defeat, Sevilla are now in the fourteenth position in the table. They have won only two matches and have accumulated ten points till now. Sevilla will face FC Copenhagen in their next match.
