Uefa Champions League (UCL) Games to Look Out for on Tuesday Night Football

After two weeks of halt, club football returned with some mouth-watering fixtures last weekend. Now with weekend game week done and dusted we move on to the next. It’s the return of the pinnacle of club football, The UEFA Champions League (UCL) is back. 

The UCL returns with matchday 3 games this midweek. On Tuesday we have got Groups A to D playing against each other while the remaining games will be played on Wednesday night. So in UCL we have had two matchday action and saw exciting games of which some went to the wire: till the last minute to decide the winner. 

Coming on Tuesday action we have got Groups A to D playing. In the previous matchday we have seen in group A Napoli dominated the play completely and are at the top of the group table. In group B the favorites Atletico Madrid suffered a shock defeat on the opening matchday but managed to win their 2nd game and sit 3rd in the group. 

Coming into the most talked about the group and perhaps the group of death in UCL Group C. Where 3 European heavyweights are going against one another. We witness Bayern dominating that group with 2 out of 2 wins. While Barcelona and Inter have one win each in 2 games played so far. Coming into the last group Tuesday night action Group D Sporting CP has been on roll winning 2 out 2 games so far with Spurs and last year’s Europa League champions with one win each out of 2 matches played. 

With Matchday 3 in the Uefa Champions League upon us. We decided to have a detailed look at fixtures to watch out for in UCL action on Tuesday night. Three games to watch out for Tuesday night in UCL are –

By far the fixture to look out for Tuesday night UCL action will be Inter Milan hosting FC Barcelona at San Siro. Barcelona is coming into this fixture on the back of a humiliating loss to Bayern Munich. Meanwhile, Inter Milan came off a win against Victor Plzen’s last game week in UCL. 

This game is regarded as a crucial fixture as it will decide the fate of this group in days to come. With Inter low on confidence, it will be a tricky task for them to face Barcelona this Tuesday.

Meanwhile their opponent Barcelona looks like returned to their past glory. Barcelona has an excellent start in Laliga they have got in 19 points out of a possible 21 in 7 games. Catalans have been on fire this season scoring 19 goals and conceding just one in Laliga so far. Barcelona got a comfortable win against Mallorca after their return to action last weekend. UCL had a splendid start by defeating Viktoria Plzen in game week 1. But then faltered against might Bayern wherein they dominated the game for a while but eventually lost 2 nil at Allianz Arena in matchday 2 of UCL. 

In this game, Xavi Barcelona would want to get back to winning ways quickly. By dominating the struggling Inter side in their difficult times. While Inter will have the advantage of home supporters rallying behind them to get a positive result out of this exciting fixture in UCL matchday 3. 

2. Ajax vs Napoli

The next game in line to look out for Tuesday night action in UCL will be in Group A. It will be group leaders Napoli taking on mighty Ajax in the matchday 3 fixture. Napoli has been outstanding in Group A so far. They have won 2 out of 2 games in UCL so far. Their biggest moment was on matchday 1 wherein they defeated last year’s finalist Liverpool in a convincing manner with a score of 4-1. In Serie A they have won 6 out 8 games and drawn two and led the table with 20 points. They returned with a bang from the break last weekend as they defeated Torino by 3-1 in Serie A. 

Their opponents Ajax were on a decent run. They won 5 out of 5 games in the Dutch league initially. But on September 2nd week Ajax fell off. Recently they have lost 2 games and drawn one in all competitions. Ajax lost their last Champions League to Liverpool but went down fighting. 

With Ajax facing in-form Napoli at their home in Naples it would be an exciting game to watch out for. Napoli has won 2 out of 2 games and would want to carry on their movement and would like to register another win in UCL at their home ground in Naples. 

3. Frankfurt vs Tottenham Hotspurs

The third game to look out for in Tuesday night UCL football will be of Europa League winners taking on Conte Spurs. Conte Tottenham has had a good run so far in all competitions. They are sitting third in the premier league. They had their first loss in the premier league last weekend in a North London Derby wherein they were defeated by Arsenal. Spurs lost the derby in a horrible way wherein they were outplayed by the Gunners completely. Coming into their Champions League record this campaign they had to win their matchday game. Last week against Sporting CP Spurs again handsomely outplayed and defeated. Spurs will be coming into UCL matchday 3 with 2 big losses against Sporting and Arsenal. Conte would want to get back to winning ways sooner than later. 

Frankfurt on other hand has had a moderate run so far. They have won 4 games and lost 2 and drawn 2 in 8 games played in the Bundesliga. Frankfurt has been blowing hot and cold this season. In some games, they look like a team on a mission while in some they look completely out of shape. In UCL Frankfurt suffered a humiliating defeat at hands of Sporting on matchday 1. While they won their game on matchday 2 and are currently 3rd on the table just below Spurs.
