English Premier League club Aston Villa have appointed Spanish gaffer, Unai Emery, as their next manager.
Despite having one of the strongest teams in the league, Aston Villa made a very poor start. They managed to win only two of their first twelve matches.
As a result, Villa were struggling at the bottom half of the table. So following a 3-0 loss against Fulham, they sacked their English manager Steven Gerrard. After Gerrard’s sacking, assistant manager Aaron Danks stayed at the club as the caretaker manager.
Aston Villa came back into the winning ways by defeating Brentford with a scoreline of 4-0 the last weekend. Meanwhile, Villa started their talks with Sporting manager Ruben Amorim but the move did not happen.
Aston Villa Paid a €6 Million Release Clause

Finally, on last Monday, Aston Villa named Spanish manager Unai Emery as their new manager. Unai Emery was in charge of La Liga outfit Villarreal.
Under Emery, Villarreal made a decent start to their season. The Yellow Submarine won five of its first eleven matches. With eighteen points they are currently in the seventh position in the table.
Emery’s contract with Villarreal however would have expired at the end of the season. So in order to secure the Spaniard, Villa paid his release clause worth 6 million to the Spanish club.
Now Emery will take charge of Aston Villa from 1st November. His first game in charge will be against Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United. Before that, Villa will play against Newcastle United next weekend.
Emery has experience managing one of the biggest clubs in England, Arsenal. He led Arsenal to the Europa League final where they were defeated by Chelsea.
Following this, the Spaniard joined Villarreal and helped the club to win their first European trophy after defeating Manchester United in the finals of the Europa League 2020-21.
The next season, Villarreal qualified for the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League by defeating German giants Bayern Munich. They came very close to forcing a comeback against Liverpool in the Semifinals. But a big second half from Klopp’s team ended Villarreal’s superb run.
Now after Emery’s exit, Villarreal have already started the hunt for their next coach. According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, former Barcelona manager Quique Setien is all set to be appointed as the next gaffer for the Yellow Submarine.
Unai Emery is regarded as one of the best tactical brains around the world. His appointment will surely give Aston Villa a big boost, as they chase for a European spot.
