Manchester United’s defensive void was again exploited by Chelsea last weekend. The Red Devils were forced to settle for a point after Chelsea scored a late equalizer. However, according to reports Jose Mourinho might be interested in signing this Serie A star.
Manchester United are in dire need of a defensive enforcement. The Red Devils were on verge of giving Chelsea it’s first defeat of the season, but Ross Barkley’s late goal ensured the Blues maintain their momentum. Jose Mourinho and his men are going to have crucial fixtures ahead. With two months to go for the transfer window, it seems the Red Devils are keen to lure this Serie A star.
Manchester United are keen to sign Fiorentina defender Nikola Milenkovic. Jose Mourinho has been told it will cost more than £40million to land Fiorentina centre-back Nikola Milenkovic. The Serie A side will not do business unless the valuation is met. Jose Mourinho personally scouted the Serbian defender in last week’s international clash with Montenegro.

The former Real Madrid boss is impressed by the performances of Milenkovic. It seems United and Jose are keen to lure the 21-year-old defender and are mulling over a January bid. However, the Red Devils are not the sole side keen to lure Milenkovic. Juventus, Arsenal, Spurs and Chelsea also keen to sign the Serbian international.
According to reports in English media, United have been told it will cost more than £40 million to sign him. Old Trafford chiefs have already aware of interest of Juventus. Juventus are very keen in signing the Serbian international and Fiorentina know a transfer battle leaves them in the ideal position to push their fee. However Old Trafford chiefs aren’t fully convinced whether they should splash the cash. Jose Mourinho has already spent £61m to buy defenders Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof. Both of the defenders are struggling for regular starts under Mourinho.
It’s a dilemma for Manchester United. They know previous defensive signings have not been fruitful. However, one can easily see the lack of trust between United board and Jose. They know if they sign Milenkovic and if he doesn’t start regularly for United then that they will be huge trouble. However, if they splash the cash on Milenkovic, it would be an indication that that relationship between Jose and United board has improved.
