According to the Standard, Chelsea has made an offer to Leipzig for Werner. Chelsea has agreed to pay his release clause which is around £55 million. There could be a slight variation based on Leipzig’s Champions League qualification.
As per reports from Goal, Chelsea also has given a personal contract for Werner. It has a 5-year deal where the German receives $11.4 million per year. The player will receive £200,000 a week, a pretty lucrative deal as far as Werner’s concerned.
But Chelsea is just close yet. The deal is not finalized. Both Leipzig and Werner are still to give official confirmation of agreement with the offer. As far as Leipzig are concerned, this is the right time to cash in. Because they might end up losing him for less next season.
Although if someone matches Chelsea’s contract Werner could change his mind. It is clear that he would get more game time at Chelsea than Liverpool.
