Valencia News: Gennaro Gattuso Provides an Update on Jose Gaya’s Future

Valencia news: Jose Gaya is among the most talented left-backs in Spanish football.

He joined the Bats youth academy aged 11 in 2006 and worked through the club’s youth ranks to make his professional debut during the 2011-12 season. Gaya has played 235 league games for the Batzine’s so far, scoring six goals.

The 27-year-old defender helped Valencia win the Copa del Rey during the 2018-19 season. Gaya was named the club captain after the departure of Dani Parejo in the summer window of 2020.

The Batzine’s manager Gennaro Guttuso is confident Jose Gaya will stay at the club beyond this season.

Speaking to the media, he said: “I think that Gayà will accept our proposal and sign a new deal. He’s the captain, the club made a very good proposal so I’m now really confident”.

Gaya is currently in the final year of his contract at the Mestalla Stadium. Valencia have recently opened talks with him over a new contract and is confident about reaching an agreement.

However, Barcelona have also shown interest in signing him in recent months. It remains to be seen if the Bats can pursue him to stay at the club beyond this season.

Valencia signs Iago Herrerín

The Bats have officially announced the signing of goalkeeper Iago Herrerin on a Bosman deal earlier this week. In an official statement, the club confirmed: Valencia CF have agreed to sign Iago Herrerín who will join the first team squad on a full-time basis to increase their depth in goal following Jaume Domènech’s long-term injury.

Herrerin was a free agent after leaving Saudi club Al Raed FC at the end of last season. He joined the Spanish club as a replacement for Jaume Domenech, who suffered a knee ligament injury earlier this month.
