The first two sessions of the second day’s play of the fourth and final test of the series have belonged completely to the Indian cricket team who look well set to get past 500 in their first innings. It was Cheteshwar Pujara who held the Indian innings together with a marathon knock of 193 off 373 balls showcasing extraordinary patience, class and temperament.
Rishabh Pant, who arrived at the crease early on Day 2 at the fall of Hanuma Vihari’s wicket, has gone about his business slowly and silently. The duo put on a 89 run stand for the sixth wicket before Pujara’s extraordinary knock was brought to an end by Nathan Lyon. Pant, however, was unfazed by Pujara’s dismissal and has continued to bat along.
Pant has already racked up 88 runs under his belt and looks well set on his way to his second test hundred. The left hander seems really happy with the way he has gone about his innings and was witnessed flaunting his fitness during the drinks breaks mid way through the post lunch session. The 21 year old was spotted doing what seemed like a martial art stunt on the field while being served drinks. Watching him stretching wouldn’t be too much of a surprise considering that fact that he has been in the scorching heat for more than two hours.
