Virat Kohli’s new statue in Delhi was damaged by fans at the unveiling ceremony

Madame Tussauds opened its museum in Delhi in December last year. It has various statues of famous celebrities from the fields of Sports, Bollywood, History & Leaders, Hollywood and Music. The statues of footballers David Beckham and Lionel Messi are present in the museum. After Kapil Dev and Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli became the third cricketer to have his statue in the museum. His statue was unveiled on 6 June 2018.

At the unveiling ceremony, the museum director Anshul Jain said,“Virat Kohli has made tremendous contributions to national and international cricket. His passion and commitment to the Indian cricket team have inspired many youngsters. We had to get his statue after lots of requests from his fans.”
During the unveiling ceremony, a lot of people had gathered. The mob was pretty excited to see the statue and a chaos was created. The people actually got too close to the statue and it got damaged. It is reported that there was some damage to the right ear of the statue.
The officials came in to control the mob quickly but the damage had been done by then. The statue was sent to the workshop and the repairs have been done. Before the unveiling ceremony, Virat had called his fans to attend it and click selfies with the statue. The superstar posted his video message for the fans on Twitter:


After Virat, the authorities are planning to get a statue of MS Dhoni as well. However, they have not confirmed anything yet.
