The ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League has witnessed a lot of drama in the United Arab Emirates. Case in point, there was a delay during the match between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore at Dubai International Stadium in Dubai.
Chennai Super Kings’ middle-order batsman Ambati Rayudu went missing during the strategic time-out. Rayudu’s absence on the field caused a slight delay for the match to commence after the time-out break.
During CSK’s innings, Ambati left the field and did not return before the short break ended.
The match was supposed to have started after the break but Ambati didn’t return to the field. His absence took everyone by surprise. It took more than a minute for Rayudu to return to the field. Eventually, the match started as usual.
Why Ambati Rayudu left the field?
So the question is why did Ambati Rayudu walk off the field during the two and a half minute strategic time-out break? With Ambati Rayudu not on the field after the break, the commentators were surprised and discussed the delay in the match.
“We’ve got a missing player, that’s what it is. We’ve got no Ambati Rayudu. He’d left the field, we assumed for a bathroom break,” the commentators added after Ambati Rayudu did not return to the field quickly after the break.
As per the reports, Ambati had stomach upset during the course of the match. Rayudu had to wait for the right opportunity to leave the field. As the strategic time-out began, Ambati Rayudu walked off the field.
After he returned to the field, Ambati conveyed his sincere apologies to the opposition and match officials for the interruption. Ambati Rayudu faced three balls before being dismissed by Yuzvendra Chahal.
