Virendra Sehwag mocked Gautam Gambhir publicly during a media interaction by retorting to his statement on Ishant Sharma.
Actually, Sehwag was there to announce Sharma’s join and welcome to his Kings XI Punjab, who with a base price of INR 2 crore went unsold. A few days ago, Gautam Gambhir had remarked upon Sharma, saying, “Nobody will pay Rs 2 crore for 4 overs. I am surprised to see Ishant’s base price.” When this instance was picked up by one of the journalists, Sehwag took it as an opportunity to exercise his customary sarcasm, speaking, “Tell me one thing, who pays your Rs 12 crore for playing 60 balls then?”
Apparently, the batsman took a dig at Gambhir. Ishant, who played for Rising Pune Supergiants last season, had set a price of INR 2 crores, which appeared lofty for others too and that’s why he went unsold at the auctions.
The Rising Pune Supergiants will be clashing with the Kings XI Punjab on 8th of April in Indore.
The Pune Supergiants made a wild leap in this tenth edition of IPL by picking the Englishman Ben Stokes at INR 14.5 Crores, the highest ever paid to a foreigner in the league history.
