Vitality Blast: Hopes for Quarter Finals alive for Essex
Essex were the champions of the 2019 Vitality Blast. They are currently placed at the second position in the points table with 19 points and are behind Surrey.
They played against Glamorgan on 2nd July 2022. Glamorgan won the toss and invited Essex to Bat first. Essex have some top-class Batsmen playing for them.
We got to witness a top batting performance by the Essex cricket team as they posted a Massive target of 254 runs for a loss of 5 Wickets.
A great middle order partnership by Dan Lawrence and Paul Walter helped the Essex team to pose such massive target and finally win the match, keeping their hopes for Quarter Finals alive.
Summary of the match between Essex and Glamorgan
Glamorgan won the toss and invited Essex to Bat first. Opening pair of Rossington and Das provided a decent start of 37 runs before Robin Das was dismissed by Mcllroy.
Rossington went on to anchor the innings and scored 45 runs before getting out in the 8th Over. After Peppers department, Rossington and Lawrence helped build the Essex innings as they were forming a great partnership before Rossington was out.
Lawrence then went on to continue his good form and his Partnership with Paul Walter helped Essex put on a massive total of 254 runs. Lawrence scored 71 and Walter 58 runs.
Glamorgan lost an Early Wicket on 4 runs. Their captain decided to lead the team from front but did not get any support from teammates. Northeast scored 97 runs but other end kept on collapsing resulting in Glamorgan’s defeat by 69 runs. Dan Lawrence was declared as the man of the match.
