They say that catches win matches and it has been quite the story of the season as far as IPL 2019 is concerned. The ongoing edition of the IPL has been spectacle to quite a few sensational catches. The award for the catch of the tournament however would certainly go to Ben Stokes for his outstanding effort to dismiss Kedar Jadhav in the ongoing match between the Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
It was a short of length delivery bowled outside off and Kedar threw his bat at it, looking to go up and over Ben Stokes at backward point. Stokes however put in a full length dive and managed to get both hands to the ball to pluck it out of thin air. It was virtually a goalkeeper like jump timed to perfection by the all rounder who punched the air in delight after taking the catch. Defending 152, the Royals needed early wickets to make a game out of it and a moment of magic on the field of that sort would have certainly lifted the spirits of the dressing room.

Earlier in the day, Chennai Super Kings rode on some disciplined bowling effort to restrict Rajasthan Royals to a modest 151/7 in their 20 overs. Despite having a star studded batting line-up, Rajasthan were jolted by the Chennai bowlers at regular intervals. It was Shreyas Gopal’s quickfire seven-ball 19 not out down the order that helped the hosts cross the 150-run mark. Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur and Ravindra Jadeja picked up two wickets each for Chennai while Mitchell Santner bagged one.
