Zing bails continue to spring surprises for the fielding sides in this year’s IPL. The ongoing match between the Chennai Super Kings and the Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore witnessed yet another instance of bails not coming off despite the ball hitting the stumps as Faf Du Plessis rode his luck early on in the innings.
It all happened during the 4th over of the innings when Umesh Yadav was operating. It was a length delivery from Yadav and du Plessis charged down the track to meet it. The ball however straightened after pitching beating him all ends up on its way through to the keeper. There was however a slight sound as the ball passed the batsman and replays showed that it had kissed the off stump on the way.

It was a lucky reprieve for du Plessis, who didn’t quite make the most of the opportunity as he was dismissed for 5 in the same over. It was a short ball from Yadav that did the trick as du Plessis went for the pull but could only end up top edging it. The ball went up miles in the air and it was his former South Afrcian teammate Ab De Villiers who eventually got under it to take the catch at mid off. de Villiers almost clashed with Navdeep Saini while taking the catch but held his nerves to grasp it safely in the end.
