The fourth ODI between India and New Zealand is underway at Hamilton. India have already bagged the series with an unassailable 3-0 lead and have been absolutely ruthless in all the three games played in the series so far. It was however a completely different story for the men in blue at Hamilton, who were bowled out for 92 registering their seventh lowest total in ODIs.
New Zealand executed their plans to perfection, removing the Indian top order early and never letting the rest of the Indian batsman settle down. New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult ripped through the Indian middle order after dismissing both the openers early on. India failed to get any sort of momentum into their innings and certainly missed skipper Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni for that matter as Boult continued to haunt the Indian batsman with his lines and lengths.
Indian all rounder Hardik Pandya, who came in to bat at number 7, stuck around in the middle and tried playing his shots as wickets continued to fall at the other end. The 25 year old was undone by a short delivery from Boult in the last over of his spell, who registered his fifth five wicket haul in ODIs in the process.
The ball appeared to stop after pitching before reaching the batsman, taking him by surprise. Pandya tried to get out of the way but couldn’t and in the end ended up getting a bit of glove on it and Tom Latham made no mistake giving New Zealand their 8th wicket. Boult finished with figures of 5/21 in his 10 overs as India found themselves reeling at 55/8 and were eventually dismissed for 92 in 30.5 overs.
