WATCH: Kieron Pollard trolls umpire with epic stance after being refused clear wide on the previous delivery

The ongoing edition of the IPL has already witnessed a fair share of controversy and that refuses to die even as we approach the end of the tournament. The final over of the first innings of the IPL 2019 final between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians on Sunday witnessed yet another controversy and it was once again an umpiring blunder which led to it all at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

It all happened on the third delivery of the final over of the innings when Dwayne Bravo dished out a big wide to Kieron Pollard but umpire Umpire Menon did not feel that it was wide. Pressure was mounting on the West India after he had failed to score a single run off the first two deliveries and the third ball which should have been called a wide was counted as a legal delivery. Justifiably disgruntled with the decision, Pollard threw his bat into the night sky to showcase his frustration even as Bravo walked back after bowling the third delivery of the over.

It did not end just there as Pollard walked away from the pitch and stood well outside the off-stump guard as Bravo began his delivery stride for the fourth ball of the over. The umpires then decided to have a word with the big West Indian to calm things down and the two parties had a heated discussion on the pitch as the CSK players watched the drama from the field. While Pollard was arguably right in getting frustrated after the call, he was criticized for his reaction to the umpire’s decision by on-air commentators during the dramatic final over.

Pollard managed to hold his nerves as he slammed two boundaries in the last two balls of the 20th over to take Mumbai Indians to 149/8 in their 20 overs.
