Indian opener KL Rahul continued his fine form in the ongoing edition of the IPL slamming his second half-century against Rajasthan Royals at Mohali to guide his team to a crucial 12 run win. He started off steadily and paced his innings well to combine with Chris Gayle and David Miller for two crucial partnerships of 38 and 85 runs respectively. Rahul and Gayle got their team off to a decent start before the likes of Mayank Agarwal and David Miller chipped in with important knocks to guide the KXIP total to 182/6 in their 50 overs.
Rahul, who started his innings in a scratchy fashion, recovered well in the end to get past the 50 run mark for the third time in the ongoing IPL season. The shot of the day however came from none other than Rahul when he managed to hit Jaydev Unadkat for a six over cover despite backing away miles into the leg side. It was on the fifth ball of the 15th over when Rahul tried to give himself some room to play on the off side. Unadkat followed him with a slightly overpitched fuller length delivery and Rahul needed no second invitation to go inside out over covers, managing to clear the boundary with the exceptional shot.

Rajasthan Royals were off to a flyer with Jos Buttler and Rahul Tripathi going all guns blazing right from the start as they posted a 38-run stand for the first wicket before Buttler was removed by debutant Arshdeep Singh. Tripathi went on to notch-up a half-century but his efforts went in vain. Stuart Binny went bonkers towards the end of Rajasthan’s innings scoring a quickfire 33 off 11 balls but could not take his side over the line as KXIP won the game in last over to jump to the fourth spot on the table.
