MS Dhoni once again proved why he is still the boss behind the wickets as he almost effected a no look throw into the stumps to dismiss KL Rahul in CSK’s latest encounter at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The bails however refuse to come off to give the Karnataka opener a lifeline in a stiff run chase of 161 on a difficult wicket. The incident occurred in the fourth ball of the 13th over of the Kings XI Punjab innings.
Rahul nudged the fourth ball of the over bowled by Ravindra Jadeja into the leg side and took off for the single. Dhoni, who was on high alert as usual, got to the ball really quick and flicked it onto the stumps. KL Rahul was nowhere near making his ground but the bails surprisingly refused to dislodge luckily enough for him. The stumps were lightened for a minisecond but the rule book doesn’t allow it to be given out unless the bails are dislodged completely and Rahul might have considered himself extremely lucky to still be there in the middle.

Earlier in the day, CSK managed to post a total of 160 runs on the board for the loss of three wickets in their quota of 20 overs after opting to bat first. South African skipper Faf Du Plessis, playing his first match of the season, smashed a 38 ball 54 to set the tone for the hosts at the top of the order. Punjab skipper Ravichandran Ashwin rose to the occasion picking up two wickets in the 14th over to put the brakes on the scoring rate before MS Dhoni and Ambati Rayudu smacked 44 runs off the last three overs to provide the final flourish to the CSK innings.
