Ever since MS Dhoni stepped down as limited overs captain of Team India in to give way for Virat Kohli in January, 2017, there were rumours stating a potential rift between the two talismans of Indian cricket. The rumours that Dhoni might have been forced to hand over the captaincy to a young Kohli whose growing stature in the game made him perfect for the role. Despite all the speculations, the two have shared a good rapport and their mutual respect for each other has only grown over the passage of time.
The two can be seen discussing tactics at great lengths on the field, while their camaraderie off the field is well known amongst the cricket fans. Be it the final call on DRS decisions or bowling changes and field placements in crunch situations, Dhoni is always there to help the captain of the side. Kohli, who is among the top fielders in the side, has the liberty to field from near the boundary ropes in the end overs despite being the skipper as he can trust his wicketkeeper to marshal the troops in such situations.
The bromance between Kohli and Dhoni was on full display during the practice session ahead of the second ODI at the Vidarbha Cricket Stadium in Nagpur on Monday. The duo were spotted sharing a light hearted moment with each other after the net session. The second ODI between India and Australia will be played on Tuesday. While the men in blue look to extend their lead to 2-0 and thus secure a stronghold on the five match series, the visitors will be aiming to bag their first win in the ongoing series.
