Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni may be at the fag end of his career but he continues to remain one of the fittest cricketers in the world. The 37 year old once again provided a glimpse into his extraordinary fitness levels with an incredible stretch to save himself from getting stumped during the second T20I against Australia at the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday.
Th incident occurred in the 12th over of the Indian innings bowled by Australian leg spinner Adam Zampa. It was in the very second ball he faced when Dhoni looked to come down the track in order to unsettle the bowler. Zampa however saw Dhoni advancing and delivered the ball wide outside the off stump. The ball was well outside his reach and ended up beating him completely.
Dhoni, who was out of his crease by quite some distance, had to stretch full length to make it in time before the wicketkeeper took the bails off. The decision was referred to the third umpire who did not take too much of time to make the right decision, which was in the batsman’s favour. Replays showed later that Dhoni had to put in a stretch of 2.14 m to make his ground.
