Former Indian skipper MS Dhoni has been under the spotlight as India continue to look for a series win with a third consecutive victory over Australia at the JSCA Stadium in Ranchi. The craze surrounding Dhoni’s last ever appearance at his hometown stadium however was unreal as the 37 year old was greeted by a rousing reception as he walked out to bat with India in a spot of bother at 27/3.
The Ranchi crowd went bonkers to witness their local hero coming out to bat for possibly the last time in his international career. Fans in the stadium went absolutely berserk and were sighted screaming and shouting at the top of their voices. The reception he received at the JSCA Stadium was nothing short of surreal to say the least.
There has been a sense of Deja vu every time Dhoni has stepped on to the field in the ongoing series. Fans are possibly beginning to realise that the legend may not be around when India next play at home. The receptions he has been receiving in this series have been reminiscent of Tendulkar’s penultimate Test series against Australia in 2013, when the cheer from the stands would amplify with each passing match.
