The first T20I between India and Australia is underway at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium, Visakhapatnam. India were off to a fairly good start despite losing Opener Rohit Sharma early courtesy of a 55 run stand for the second wicket between KL Rahul and Virat Kohli before the dismissal of the latter provided the opening for the visitors to make inroads into the Indian middle order.
Rishabh Pant failed to grab his opportunity at number 4, scoring just three runs off five deliveries before being dismissed in an unfortunate manner after a terrible mix up with KL Rahul at the non striker’s end. The dismissal of Pant brought MS Dhoni to the crease but the veteran never really looked settled at the crease and struggled to get going in his innings.
Wickets continued to fall regularly for India at the other end with Dinesh Karthik and Krunal Pandya both being dismissed cheaply as Nathan Coulter Nile wreaked havoc in the Indian middle order. India were with the fear of getting bundled out inside their 20 overs at one point of time but Dhoni took own his time in the middle denying singles and twos as he wanted to farm maximum strike in the death overs.
The six came in the last over of the innings off the bowling o Coulter Nile when the latter decided to pitch it up to MS Dhoni inviting him to go big on the off side. The ball was right within the arc of MS Dhoni who needed no second invitation and lofted the fuller delivery over extra cover for an amazing six. The entire stadium erupted as soon as the ball made it past the boundary ropes knowing very well that the six could make all the difference on a slowish Vizag wicket.
