Former Indian skipper and present captain of CSK MS Dhoni alongwith other senior players joined the team preparations at the MA Chidambaram Stadium ahead of the all important 12th edition of the IPL on Friday. Dhoni, who will be leading CSK in their defense of the title in the forthcoming season, looked in ominous form in the nets smashing the ball like never before in a recent video shared from CSK’s official twitter handle.
Dhoni trained at the nets on Saturday evening alongside his Indian teammates Ambati Rayudu and Kedar Jadhav, who were all part of the team that recently lost the ODI series 2-3 against Australia. Dhoni was middling the ball really well and looked to go over the top every now and then which could be great signs for the defending champions ahead of the upcoming season.
Dhoni got down to business immediately after reaching Chennai as he was seen in deep discussion with Head Coach Stephen Fleming and Batting Coach Mike Hussey on the very next morning ahead of the net session on Saturday afternoon. Dhoni was looking to hit the big shots out of the ground in the video shared from CSK’s official twitter handle. The video was captioned as “140 seconds of Classic #Thala Dhoni! #WhistlePodu #Yellove”
Chennai will kick-off the proceedings for IPL 2019 as they host Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore in the season opener at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on March 23. The defending champions will be playing on their home ground for the first time since April 10, 2018. CSK had played only one home game last season as the matches were shifted out of Chennai owing to the Cauvery River dispute.

Michael Hussey, meanwhile, said the players are looking forward to playing in front of the home crowd in the upcoming season of IPL.
“With a team like Chennai Super Kings there is always expectations but I think we can take a lot of confidence from the last season going into the new one. Hopefully, we get plenty more games in Chennai as well, in front of our home fans who we often feel are an extra fielder for us,” Hussey said.
